When I’m hiring new talent at Quantum I’m always interested to know what their attitudes are around fitness. I like to know what kind of sports or interests they have outside work.
This speaks volumes about a candidate. Someone who gets up for Rugby training on a Saturday morning in the lashing rain is committed. Someone who climbs granite slabs in the Peak District has confidence and dedication. These are all personal qualities and attributes that we look for when hiring at Quantum.
The day to day work of an electrician or plumber can be physically demanding. We take hundreds of calls each month supporting our customers around the clock. That takes stamina from our engineers. Pulling long hours, driving across London to our customers homes and businesses and still being able to trouble shoot a problem whilst delivering excellent customer care takes a certain type of person.
At Quantum we actively support our engineers in outside sports interests. We make sure they have the time and space to pursue them. Some of our guys play football at semi professional levels. Others practice martial arts, cycling, tennis, cross country running to name a few.
We make sure they have time off when they need it to sustain these things and pursue them at a high level.
Supporting our staff in these activities doesn’t just help sustain their physical fitness but their mental fitness too. Strong mental health is at the core of all fitness. Making sure our electricians and plumbers are well rested after their hard work keeps them sharp.
Good electricians and plumbers are not like red post boxes. You won’t just find them on any street corner. But if you know where to look and what to look for good engineers are out there and fortunately at Quantum we have a fair share of them already working here.
